No one is quite sure how many times Ralphi Rosario’s 1987 Chicago house anthem “You Used To Hold Me” has been re-released, but it must be in the hundreds. This edition features brand new remixes from Spiritchaser and Stephan Grondin & Alain Jackinsky. The former impresses most, delivering a string of pleasingly loose, organ-heavy rubs that recall the halcyon days of New Jersey garage. While the vocal mixes will be the most-played – Xavier Gold’s vocal still sounds fantastic.

British multi-talented musician, producer and DJ Richard Earnshaw released this as the 2nd single from his highly acclaimed ‘In Time’ album on Groovefinder Records. back in 2011. Featuring the amazing Imogen Ryall on vocals, Richard works up a spectacular cover version of Ella Fitzgerald’s jazz classic ‘Cry Me A River’. Next to the high class nu-jazz flavours of Richard’s Original Mix, ‘Cry Me A River’ gets a full on dancefloor workout with a fantastic Club Mix from the man himself, along with hypnotic afrocentric grooves from South Africa’s man of the moment, Black Coffee. Also on the package, Leftside Wobble, the connoisseur of all things funk, disco and beyond gets busy with the boogie, whilst Scrimshire of Wah Wah 45s label fame gets crafty with the beat science, rounding off one helluva release.

One of Spain’s hottest up & comers, Nacho Marco, previously known for his outstanding work on Tronic Sounds, Plastic City, Freerange Records, returns to Nite Grooves with funky new cinematic instrumental, ‘Callisto’. Named after the second moon of Jupiter, this isn’t as far out as you’d think. Rather a straight up 4/4 groove with some sweet sax-y riffs by Paul Hardcastle, Jr.
